About Action Paintball Games: |
|
|
Action Paintball games began in 1999 with Mike Whybrew, John Caruana, and Bill Starke.
After looking around and seeing paintball fields fighting for the bottom of the
market, the three decided to form a paintball business that focused on giving the
social player the best day of paintball, with the best facilities and best equipment
available. After running a field at Helensburgh, Mike and co. chose a property at
Rouse Hill, 20 minutes from Parramatta. This made Action Paintball the closest field to the central business district. Starting off using Badgers, Automags, SL68 pumps,
and a handful of Tippmann Pro Carbines, the field now uses Tippmanns as a base rental
gun, with JT Tac-5s, Smart Parts Ions/Shockers/Nerves and the unbelieveably fast
Proto Matrixes as upgrades.
Action Paintball currently has 18 fields at the Rouse Hill compound, with a new
site being developed 20 minutes away in Canoelands. This site will be purpose built,
with ultra-modern facilities and a massive 48x15 metre shop. No more dirt driveways
and dusty car parks either, with a bitumen driveway and car park that will hold
100+ cars.A cafe restaurant is on the cards too, with an eating/viewing decked area
the same size as the shop overlooking the 3 tournament fields. Both sites will be
running jointly, along with Action Paintball Games in Western Australia, run by
Damien Enever.
The shop was opened in 2002 after seeing a demand for quality paintball products
from people who wanted to see the products in real life before purchasing them,
rather than order online from overseas. The sight of hundreds of guns in the display
cabinets brings a lot of enquiries from social players, who had not realised the
scope of paintball in Australia. An open invitation to Supair training on Sundays
is extended to anyone expressing interest in playing paintball. The shop stocks
a full range of Planet Eclipse, JT, Dye/Proto, Smart Parts, Tippmann, WDP, and WGP
gear, as well as other assorted brands.
Action Paintball Games is home to several Professionals team that compete at the
highest level in Australia, the Super 7s Series. Out of these, the most recognizable
would have to be Sydney SWAT, who are known Australia-wide as being the best paintball
team in Australia. Owner and team captain, Mike Whybrew has always sourced the best
equipment for the pro shop, and has made sure that his team is always outfitted
with the best gear. Following a policy of ‘Win on Sunday, sell on Monday' Sydney
SWAT have represented Action Paintball Games to the fullest extent, bringing home
first place trophies from every major tournament in Australia. Other teams that
train at the Action Compound include Sydney Shock, Apocalypse, and all-girl team
Bitchin.
With scenario paintball becoming a growing trend in Australia, Action Paintball
Games is catering for the woodsball crowd by stocking a wide range of scenario accessories,
with a possible distribution deal with Special Ops Paintball on the horizon. A recent
addition to www.pbchat.com.au was The Sniper’s Nest, a woodsball/scenario dedicated
forum.
All marker repairs are handled on site by Action’s two experienced gun technicians,
so rather than let a floorsweeper mess with your pride and joy, buyers can be assured
that if they’ve ploughed it into the ground, it can probably still be repaired.
Using Star Track as couriers, we can have markers and accessories to any capital
city the next business day. No more waiting on Australia Post to deliver your much
needed markers/apparel/accessories! And because Action stocks the majority of products
it sells, you’re not waiting for 3 weeks to receive your purchase.
As paintball
in Australia continues to grow in leaps and bounds, Action Paintball Games is committed
to helping the sport as it expands. Action provides exposure in mainstream media
publications such as the Sydney Morning Herald, Ralph and FHM magazines, as well
as a high profile TV ad campaign, for both the field, and Paintballshop.com.au.
Come and visit us sometime, even if it’s
just to shoot the breeze about the sport
we all love.
The Action Crew. |
